No sound on message alerts on iPhone 5

My iPhone5 has a ring tone, but for text messages and other alerts only vibrates.  Even if you try to check what different alert tones sound like - it only vibrates.  Also even with the keyboard clicks option selected, there is no sound when using keybaoard.  I've done all the obvious check.  Does anyone have any other ideas

Ok - problem solved. Bandofbrothers told me how to reboot and I now have sound back. Many thanks.
