Thanks Bambino - some interesting stuff there. When my existing contract expires in about 6 months time it's going to be tricky !!

8 GB storage nowadays is just too little. Put a few apps on, a bit of music, photos and you soon start to see how little 8 GB is. Plus when performing software updates, there needs to be a certain amount of free space, or else it cannot be performed.
I've always found the price difference between the 5C and 5S was too small. The 5C was overpriced when it was launced in my opinion and still is in this 8GB model.
I think the 5C wants to be considerably cheaper, so that it is in the price range of the cheaper Android smartphones. The cheaper Android smartphones are a very popular choice and if Apple priced their 5C in this price range, then I can imagine that it would impact the sales of the cheaper Android smartphones.
I think Apple needs to rethink it's strategy on their cheaper iPhone's. Apple, yes, they are a premium brand, but by all means have a flagship model, but if you are going to make a cheaper model, make it considerably cheaper than the flagship model, or else it's pointless.
I think one of the reasons Apple didn't price the 5C a lot cheaper is because they thought that more people would go for this model, and then this would have affected the sales of the 5S model.

Very true, probably end up with 6 and a bit gigabytes of usable storage.

They need to rethink the whole strategy of a cheaper iphone. Unfortunately they cannot reduce the 5c price too much now, too late, as people who paid the over inflated initial price will be up in arms.
