Lost signal on iPhone 5s in South Africa

Anonymous

Hi everyone,

Iv'e been in South Africa for 2 weeks now and yesterday I lost my signal and can't get it back. There are 2 handsets on the contract and the other phone is working fine, it is also an iPhone 5s. I have checked with O2 and there isn't a restriction on the phone. I have also tried turning the phone on and off, removing the sim, putting it in airport mode and back again and also left it off over night but still nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it working again?

Thanks

Try a manual network selection and chose some different networks.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Try settings , general , reset , reset network settings.

And On the iPhone hold down the Sleep/Wake Button and Home button together until the Apple Logo shows. Then On seeing this Apple Logo release both buttons ,and the iPhone will reset , which has been known to clear most glitches.

Forgot to say I had tried the holding both down as well.

Will give the network option a go.

Thanks

Try the advice given to you by MI5. Losing your signal wouldn't have anything to do with O2. The problem would be with whichever network you're roaming on. O2 has no control over South African networks.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Can you try your other sim in the iPhone that's having issues to see if it's the same after trying to choose a different network.

I'm not sure about Apple Stores where you are and if they would be able to assist.

Thanks for the replies. I tried the manual selection as MI5 suggested and it worked.

Thanks again
