Iphone 5 and 4G LTE - really confused :)

Hi,

Ive just upgraded to iphone 5 and have a few days left to cancel contract in cooling off period....

Im totally confused about the Iphone5 4G issue & would really appreciate some help slight_smile

Sorry if there are already similar threads to this....

I have spoken to o2 advisor on chat who says iphone5 on O2 will definitely work with 4G LTE.... There is no coverage in my rural area yet - but they said if I visit a place which has 4G coverage (such as central London) - then ill experience 4GLTE on my iphone 5 straight away..

Is this correct? Is o2's iphone5 compatible with 4G after all?

Thanks loads for your help 🙂

It's new and introduces new avenues to customers.

Its natural for people to be interested and want to pursue lnowledge about the service.

As no one yet has 02 4G it cant yet be verified what will happen or if anything will be throttled.

I've used EE's 4G too and although yes its faster than 3G, its not a deal breaker for me.

Yes my statement on throttled speeds should have been better worded, but it stands a good chance that O2 will as well just as your home broadband is.

I like your last statment as it sums up all the marketing goofiness thats going on with it at the moment. Using a E5776 WIFI Dongle with a Three Data SIM i have got 35 Mbs sec as my local cell is DC-HSPA+ enabled.

I may have been lucky and no one else was using it and maybe the bandwidth is dynamically controlled based on user numbers but who knows, one things for certain theres a whole host of miss information about it, and those poor people who signed up to EE thinking they were going to get the full 100 or 150mbs 4G support were very very mistaken! Alway read the small print 🙂
