Internet connection to Mercedes Apps

I've just got a new Merc company car and can't get my iPhone 6s to create an internet connection with the car to access the apps available. The Bluetooth pairing for phone and audio is fine but not the data one.
I've read bits on the web and it seems there maybe some alternative carrier settings which work. Help

Have you enabled the personal hotspot facility on the iphone ? do you have the Idata apn?

I have tried combinations of idata and mobile APN settings with hotspot on and off, the nearest to making a connection is with hotspot on but it times out after about a minute and I get the dreaded "internet connection temporary unavailable"

If on an Iphone tariff then idata is the best apn to use. The hotspot function has to be enabled and over bluetooth / wifi enabled option when turning it on

Depending on phone location in the car this may have an effect on it getting a strong signal hence internet unavailable.

What is the exact model of merc ? thought merc now supported pan bluetooth protocol that apple uses
