IPhone 6s dying with 30% battery remaining.

Okie dokie, here goes... my iPhone 6s has started to randomly switch off, as if out of battery (the little animation appears to prompt you to plug in the charger) whilst still having between 30/40% battery remaining. Plugging the phone in restarts it, and it'll show the same 30 odd % of battery remaining as before it shut down

. It's a real PITA as I'm having to carry a power bank with me in case my phone switches off whilst out.

I've googled this, read up on the Apple forums and it seems to be an ongoing issue with some iPhones. After going through diagnostics with Apple chat, and them looking at the software results they've said it's got to be a firmware issue.

I also followed a trouble shooting fix from the Apple community for this issue. It consists of fully charging and fully discharging the battery a few times, in the hope that it fixes the problem. It didn't make a difference in my case.

I'm booked into the Apple genius bar on Tuesday, so I'll update this thread with the outcome. I thought it might be helpful for other ppl finding themselves with this issue to document the process.

Shame they had not done the reset before would have saved one trip but even if a recon you will not know and the original warranty is preserved

Yup, as long as I get a bug free working phone back I don't care if it's refurb or new. From what I gather you can't tell the difference from a recon, apart from a plain box?

The Apple rep/genius (it's really alien to call someone a genius 😱) did however say a new phone...

They can't say I've not done enough troubleshooting though, I'm certainly fed up of resets now! And as I've been asked not to restore the old settings, I've not got a phone book atm. That's really annoying as I don't usually answer a number if it's not either expected or a contact.

Anyhoo I'll update this thread further once I've been to the Apple store tomorrow.

In all honesty, it always sounded like a battery issue.

I'm certain there will be no problems. Apple customer care is an example that all manufacturers and networks should be trying to match.

On the bus too Apple now, I've even remembered to buy an actual day ticket I can hold instead of on my app... Yeah the last visit to Apple it was touch and go if my m-ticket would restore.. It deffo won't if they swap out my phone...

I'm chanting with fingers crossed in my mind... "please just gimme a working phone, I don't ever want to send a phone to anovo"😱

I hope the weather is better where you are @gindygoo. Dark dingy and lashing down here. Anyway fingers crossed they fix the phone. (If not....pop into the nearest Samsung shop and buy the S7) Smiley Very Happy

😂 no I don't think I want to go back to Android, I do like the iOS. I'm hoping that all the stories about great Apple service are true @Cleoriff I'm sure they are though... Dunno why I'm nervous, their tech has glitched out on me, I want a replacement, simple really.

And yes, it still looks dark here it's chucking down in bucket loads!
