Got phone unlatched SMS but still rejecting SIM?

Anonymous
Not applicable

I bought an iPhone 5s and put my sim in with no problem.

However, I tried putting a Three sim in my 4S which was apparently unlatched. Talking to an online support, they claim that it was unlocked on their end.

Plugging it into iTunes simply produced the following error:

"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported."

Where do I go from here?

I got a text message to say it was unlatched but no email.

I contacted web support today and they put it through. This time I got another text message that was worded differently. It worked this time as well. slight_smile

Pleased but I'm curious what happened the first time.

I actually thought to do so just before I posted.

Is there any reason the customer service rep would have seen the phone as unlatched but it's still locked?

I unlocked (or as O2 call it - unlatched) my old 4S iPhone last week, prior to my getting a new 5S, and did it via the online form. I had an email after a couple of days to tell me that the phone had been unlatched. Put in a new O2 PAYG SIM and it seems to be OK. Did you get an email confirmation that your phone had been unlatched? I had to try twice, as the first time it didn't work.
