This is terrible and something we hear too often I would make a complaint get the phone returned to you and take it to apple directly don't bother with O2 repairs.

Yep, that's what I would do. Get the phone back off O2 and make a Geniua=s appointment at your nearest Apple store, even if it's a good distance away.

Even if it's not under warranty I've known a genius or specialist to help ,or they will offer you an out of warranty handset deal for a fee.
