iPhones switching automatically when they go into sleep mode is nothing more than a money making exercise. How can it save battery life when the Apple site says the exact opposite?
Here is a direct quote from the Apple website:
https://www.apple.com/batteries/maximizing-performance/
I quote:
"There are two simple ways you can preserve battery life — no matter how you use your device: adjust your screen brightness and use Wi-Fi."
And:
"When you use your device to access data, a Wi-Fi connection uses less power than a cellular network — so keep Wi-Fi on at all times."

I admit to being technophobic but I have seen this relating to Iphones before? "Switching automatically when they go into sleep mode". Sorry but what on earth is the point of that?
So to stop it completely you would have to turn your phone OFF? Sorry if I have got this wrong but as this thread is covering the issue ...it is important for me to know why....

I'm not an iPhone person (thankfully) but I believe that in order to stop it you need to make sure mobile data is completely turned off.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. O2 and most likely all the other networks must love this 'feature'. If you have a low data tariff and keep wasting your data because of this, you either have to buy a bolt-on, or increase your tariff. Either that or you have no data available when you need it.
