Although using star hash 10 hash is SUPPOSED to be FREE?, why does my data go down each time I use this method to look at my remaining data?
I now dare not look at it again for fear of using all my data up, even though I'm not using it for actual calls or texts etc.

OK. I realise that calls (5p a minute) and texts (5p a text) would be chargeable, because then I'm making use of O2 facilities. But I just can't see why they charge for *hash10hash which they say is free to look at my data usage! Each time I use this so called 'Free' facility I lose data as if I'd made an ordinary phone call.

Well, the last three times I've used it the usage has been: from £12.55, then £12.49 then £12.34! These amounts are at least the cost of a text and the last one is a difference of 15p!
Really O2 are lying, or at least not giving the full information, when they call it 'free', because they know a USSD code costs money. What is a USSD Code?

Something else must be either using data or being charged for or it's an error as they shouldn't use anymore than fractions of a penny.

Hi Toby,
I've not done anything over the weekend because Saturdays & Sundays are non working days.
What I'm about to do is send an email to complaints @ O2 and ask them why my O2 accpount has NEVER worked properly.
