I have been waiting for a firmware update for Xperia Z now for the best part of a month. I have also spoke to someone online and they said it may be available to download at the start of July so that is about an 8 week turn around. O2 are not the greatest at releasing new firmware within a decent timescale it is my major bug with 02 and will consider a sim free device next time around unless 02 step up their game.

We will be lucky, there are a lot of threads on this forum about 02's very slow turn around time regarding firmware updates surely one of the mods have seen these and passed on the info to relevent department and with updates coming thick and fast for smartphones chances are we may even be a firmware behind what other networks have on their on devices.

i asked the question on o2 chat yesterday and they said they cant give a specific date but it will be soon, which is of no use to anyone really
gutted aswell because when i got my s4 from o2 it was on of the first ones and it was unbranded, no o2 start up screen or anything but it developed a fault and i had to have it replaced by door step swap, the new one is branded so no updates!! 😞 fail..

im waiting for it too but thing is with branded handsets is the firmware updates for each of the networks need to be tested and sometimes altered to work properly and that specific device and o2 have a lot more to test than the other networks and are more picky. id rather that then one that crashes all the time because its not been tested on the network properly

I thought it was out today.... a weird thing happened to me.
I was in between jobs and stopped a McDonalds to grab some junk food before setting off....just as i did set off I looked at my phone to check for emails, texts etc....and it said a new firmware update was available!
So I set off to my next job thinking ill use their wifi to do the update. I get there and theres no update!
Did anyone else have this happen? Whats odd is i dont even have it set to autocheck for updates...and in terms iff connectivity, I can only assume my phone had connected to mcdonalds wifi, as OTA updates dont use mobile data.
Really odd....quite annoying too.
