I wanted to keep my existing mobile phone number and filled in O2 form on line...Few days passed and still couldn't keep it

If it's 8 numbers it's definitely a PUK.

Your PAC is 3 letters followed by 6 numbers.

More the pity that CS couldn't ask the relevant questions to find out exactly what it was the customer wanted.
