emails via Samsung

Firstly apologies if this is in wrong place but it has already taken me 15 minutes to even get here. Secondly I am a luddite.
I have a Samsung galaxy and just tried to use the email on it for first time to send a photo but recipient hadn't received it. My phone contract is with O2 but my Wi-Fi/broadband at home is with orange and I'm not sure if this is the problem. I'm sure this is of no importance but I'm writing this on my Kindle as couldn't seem to find this O2 page on my phone and also find the writing on the phone to be almost lilliputian.
When I press send when on email page it doesn't say anything or change screen and sent box is showing as empty.
Totally understandable if no-one can help as even I am having difficulty understanding what I've just typed!

G-Mack, there is no point having this phone without a Google account - It is the heart of the phone. Goto www.google.co.uk and hit the sign up button to create an account. Keep a note of your gmail adress and password, then when registration is complete you can use the details to log into your phone. From there you can go onto Play Store and download the Hotmail app which will automatically sort out your email issues when you enter your details into it.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

Ok lets start with some basic info that may help us to help you.
What email program are you using? Is it the Google account you set up to be able to access the android store?

Are you connected to Wifi or trying to send over 3g? Do you have a antivirus app on your phone?
If using over Wifi have you adjusted the firewall or settings on your router?

My email is through hotmail. I don't know what an android store is so I don't have a Google account. I had my WiFi on when using the phone as think this means I'm using my home account free and not the amount I get from O2 on my contract. (I'm sure I don't use any of that as only use phone as a phone. As before - luddite and teeny writing!) I don't have an anti virus on my phone or kindle. I only have a kindle as got it free with phone so it's very underused too. I have no idea what a firewall is. My router came when I signed up with Orange and it just plugs in to socket and back of computer. (My computer is roughly about 100 years old so I always hope hackers will be too advanced and leave me alone in disgust!)
Thank you both very much for the time you've already taken over this.

There's an android app for hotmail. Just go to Google Play, and type in "hotmail" and download the app.

Alternatively you can set up Hotmail on the Email app, but I don't see the point.

Take a look at this link

The OP has said that he doesn't have a Google account, so he can't use Google Play. I'm not sure why he's bothered to have a smart phone, as he doesn't seem interested in using any of its features.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Hmm, I noticed that as well, but thought I'd try and help a little.

Getting a gmail account is easy, but having to take someone on a journey like thiis, step by step, is going to be slightly time consuming.

If you're reading this G-Mack, get a gmail account, so you can access Google Play
