I have a Huawei y6 2018, I wish I hadn't bought this inadequate phone but I'm stuck with it for now. Anyway one thing that concerns me is that it has received no security updates since the May 2019 issue. Huawei information is that I have the latest approved version. My understanding is that android issue quarterly so is the problem Huawei or o2?

Security updates for phones currently in the market are not effected.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Huawei would send the update to O2 who would approve it after testing and then authorise Huawei to push it out to their phones. If O2 find a problem this will delay the roll out.

My one plus has only just received the October update so I would expect you to get yours soon.

What is happening with the updates to Huawei now? I thought the Trump debacle with Huawei had in effect, stopped updates being rolled out. Or have I missed something?

Although Android will do quarterly updates they don’t mosh it out to all manufacturers immediately and then it’s up to those manufacturers when they push it out to customers and the networks.
