Unlocking (Unlatching)

Hello - 1st post!

I need to use both an O2 Pay/GO and a Spanish Orange network SIM card

Have just tried to unlock an O2 Samsung Galaxy Note 8 because it is not dual sim

I have inserted the Spanish SIM and received the O2 Unlock code - a process now repeated x3 times

Finally today, I was told that because I am physically in Spain with this Samsung that this process will not work!

Any workarounds or do I have to send back to UK to get unlocked? (in the meantime re-use my older dual SIM mobile)

Surely in this Digital Hacking World, this cannot be true?

Advice from an O2 Guru regarding a way to get through:

When you call, you will be asked for the reason you are calling,

Stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.

Press 2 for Everything Else

Press 5 for More Options

Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to an advisor.

Press Upgrade, Lost/Stolen or Fraud if you have to.

8am is the best time to call

Maybe get a Spanish phone store to unlock it?

Thanks for suggestions to-date
It was an O2 Customer service agent (the 4th) who told me about the location issue i.e I had to be on the O2 network (back in the UK)
Asked several Spanish Techies but no joy (nada)

How long is it since the phone was last seen on the o2 network in the UK?, as that could be part of the problem.

Whats the error message that appears when you put the spanish sim in the phone and enter the unlock code?

From memory I don't think it was sold locked..

Samsung did on the Note 8 have a thing where phone would be locked to the first network until 10 minutes of calls had been used in the country of purchase.

Im surprised you cant find a spanish mobile phone store that can unlock phones though, but i wonder if you have entered the unlock code too many times and its locked you out completely.

It just says Unsuccessful
Again O2 rep says that as it cannot be seen on an O2 network (I see the Movistar in Spain) the process will not work
Again hard to fathom and also that Spanish Techs jump on to Youtube with no success
What gets me is that this cannot be the 1st time this has occurred!!!

Guys - UPDATE

For some reason O2 sent me an MCK code which I am about to enter
The Spanish Orange SIM is loaded and it is asking for the SIM network unlock PIN (which to me does not exactly refer to a Samsung/O2 unlock/latch code)
Is this the same as this MCK code or something else?
This jargon is not my field
Any further ideas before I ship this back to the UK

The phone is hardlocked so yes, you need an MCK code.

I AM NOW TOTALLY CONFUSED
I NOW THINK NOTHING WILL WORK UNLESS I AM IN UK ON THE O2 NETWORK PERHAPS

OK BEFORE I SHIP BACK THIS SAMSUNG O2 NOTE 8 PHONE BACK TO UK TO UNLOCK THE NETWORK SO THAT I CAN USE IN SPAIN - WHICH SEEMS TOTALLY ILLOGICAL - DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY FURHTER IDEAS
