TRYING TO GET MY MOBILE NUMBER TRANSFERRED BACK!

This morning I returned an ipad air, after requesting an upgrade from my galaxy note 10 days ago.  I am not thick but took a friends word, I could make/receive calls on it.  Last night I found out I couldn't, hence the return this morning. Prior to that I had transferred my mobile number and my mobile was disconnected.  I have been tring all day to reach 'live chat' to request the number be returned to my mobile.  I am a stroke victim, cannot talk and housebound and my mobile is registered with 999 in an emergency.  At  the moment I am not covered if I'm on my own. Has anyone any suggestions?

Maybe wrongly, but I assumed the OP would have a carer?

Hope you're able to get your issue sorted @Anonymous. I don't know if you are aware of this, but you normally can make emergency calls on your mobile without a sim card in the phone. 

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
