If the phone is still within the two year warranty I would contact Sony.

Once loaded, go into settings, apps and find Xperia home.
In there go into the permissions folder and turn all on.
Then go back to home and that should have cleared up the main freezing.
If that fails, backup and do a repair installation using Xperia companion (a clean install seems to be better on this update).
