Why Samsung is still #1 in the android market is beyond me, the last 2 flahship Sony devices have been amazing in both technical specification and feel, this has the potential to show that even more.

But for the love of god make the bezel ridiculously small so I will finally be tempted to a 5" screen device.

Not just the last 2. The Xperia S was a fantastic device.

Also look at their mid-range phones, the Xperia P and now the SP. Both incredible phones on bargain tariffs and in comparison Samsung have the Ace 2 and their overpriced mini range.

Yeah Samsung are also trying to flood the market with the same design for the last 18m boring, cheap plastic that they sell to the masses. If anyone looks beyond Samsung for an android device chances are it will be cheaper and have far superior build quality.

Couldnt agree more. Take the new S4 mini for example, mid range specs but a high-end price. You can get the SP for £10 less per month on contract and it has a better camera, higher res screen and better build quality. Thats not to say the S4 mini is a bad phone but pricing it alongside the actual S4 doesnt make sense to me.

Its like saying I want a smaller less powerful phone but I want to pay the same amount.

Anyway getting back to the Honami, what Sony are basically doing is a technical exercise and giving a 2 finger salute to the competition. This smartphone will be branded as "One Sony" no other brand has so much expertise is every field from screen tech, digital camera, (still and video), audio and gaming not to mention design. All of the features in the Xperia Honami are made by the relevant in-house department at Sony's HQ. So for example the screen is developed by their t.v. engineers, the camera by the Cybershot team and so on rather than the Sony mobile team as they normally do this is simply the best way to develop and design a smartphone Samsung will be a little bit worried come the 4th of September as their precious Galaxy range is about to take one hell of a beating.

If the camera performance is good at taking pictures of sporting events in the low light this will be one phone i'd happily spend my money on.

I wonder how much it will be sim free directly from Sony?

There is also rumors of a smaller mini Homani for 2014 for those that dont like large phones.

Rumour has it the Xperia Honami will be priced same as the Xperia Z, Sony don't want to overprice it so it is very competitive against its main rivals.

For those that like the idea of the Sony Xperia Honami but maybe put off by its size then fear not. Sony is said to be working on a Honami mini with identical spec as its big brother minus one or two things a 4" or 4.3" 720p display instead of a 5" full HD. The camera will still be 20MP but with a smaller sensor and a dual LED flash rather than a xenon. However the rest of the phone will be identical from the Snapdragon 800 CPU to the Triluminos display with X-Reality tech to boot.

Best of all this is likely to be announced the same time as the Xperia Honami at the IFA annual tech fest in Berlin on the 4th of September.:smileytongue:
