Setting up E-Mail Account on Google Nexus Tablet

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi - I am trying to set up an O2 Email Account on my Google Nexus Android tablet device.  The O2 Gurus advised me to use IMAP but nobody in the technical help desk seemed to be aware of the settings.  Will POP3 settings do the job.   Very confused and Gurus don't seem to know what I require - can anyone help please?

Many thanks, Jill

You have to use pop as o2 doesnt support imap. You should look at gmail or some other provider though as o2 email is closing.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

MI5 is right, O2 are closing down their email servers unless you have O2 Broadband:

Thanks folks - I have O2 broadband which is now Sky Broadband - do you know if there are any plans to do away with O2 email in this case - they do seem to be cutting back a lot of stuff?  Cheers, Jill

Your email account will stay live until April next year, I believe, then it goes......
You should now be able to get a sky email account though as you are with them. Use the time to let all your contacts know your new email address.

MI5 is right and you will lose it eventually, maybe a good idea to use Google Gmail to be independent of your broadband supplier.

Don't bother with a Sky email address. Since the changeover to Yahoo, it's pretty basic. As said, Gmail is your best option.
