Samsung Galaxy S2 keeps freezing, crashing and switching off.

I'm running Android Jellybean 4.1.2 and my phone crashes if you do anything with it other than watching videos from the phones memory or sd card, make calls or send texts. Using any other features like wifi or 3G (just having it switched on), recording video or using apps causes the phone to freeze and crash. To fix it I need to take the battery out and then the battery life shows at 1% and I get no signal reception. When I plug in my charger i get signal and the battery charges. After 5 minutes I reboot the phone and the battery is back to normal. I have reset the handset twice and updated the software to new versions. Been like this since I updated to ICS. Any ideas?

I'm no Android expert, but if the phoen has been causing problems since upgrading to ICS, would it not be prudent to wipe the phone and downgrade back to the previous operating system?

Would that be honeycomb?

Just re-read your post...you say youre phone is running Jellybean and the phone has been like this since you upgraded to ICS? Is that correct? or did you mean since you upgraded from ICS?

Hi,

Similar to the above reply I'm not sure if you've had problems since moving to ICS, thus the same with JB? Regardless I think there's a hardware issue here as the S2 works fine with ICS and JB. Did you wipe the cache partition too? I've read that after a major update the cache should be wiped as well as a reset.

It may also be worth considering a new battery as these can be had for circa £7 - an original one too. If your battery is faulty it could be causing the phone to misbehave.
