Samsung Galaxy Ace non existent text message

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi, my Samsung galaxy ace is showing a non existent text message. I clear the pull down notification but as soon as I start using the mob, the text msg alert shows at the top and there's a constant number 1 showing at the bottom. I've tried looking for tw launcher in All settings but there isn't one, as mentioned in a previous thread dated June last year. Is there any more help available please?

It's sounding like that's becoming your only option..... Use something like "Myphone Explorer" to back up and you'll have everything safe, but it's still a major PITA!!

Hi Jonsie,

It is definitely not a v/mail, the icon is different and I've double checked. On the pull down notification screen the text shows there but when I tap on it, it takes me to a blank message screen, ready for me to start a new message. The number 1 in the mail icon bottom on my screen never goes away. I can clear the mail icon top left on screen by clearing the notification bar but as soon I start doing anything else it comes back. I have cleared all texts, all logs and all caches but short of reformatting the mob i don't know what else to do...

Open the message app and press menu then select "system messages" see if you have anything in there? (wording of description maybe different depending on firmware)

Hi M15

when I press the message app left hand corner I get the choice of compose, delete threads, config messages, search and settings. I've been into each one and there is no menu to select, or system messages. Am I going into the wrong place?

It should be in config or settings, might be called "push" messages, sorry but it's been so long since I used Gingerbread I can't remember exactly.

In config I have 4 entries all to do with application browser, 2 dated march 2012, 2 dated April 2011, nothing else. In settings under text message settings I have delivery reports, manage SIM card msgs (0), message centre, input mode and reply path. There are other headings but to do with storage, mms, cell broadcasting settings and notification settings. Nothing to do with push....even tho I feel like pushing me mob somewhere...;( lol

When you said you had cleared the cache - how did you do it?

Like you told someone last June...settings, applications, manage applications, selected All and went thru everything listed, clearing all caches (while I was there). Even checked things stored on my SD card just to make sure. slight_smile

Ok, really strange one as if you have cleared everything the phone definitely thinks you have a "real" message.... If you click on the message in the notification bar and let it open, can you press and hold on the blank message and select delete ?
