I am unsure whether my phone would be under guarantee to get a replacement battery or that I would need to buy a new one.
Hope somebody can help me out.
Many thanks
Alex

It is....
Out of warranty battery replacement by apple is over £60 + not having phone whilst battery is replaced.
Same 5 min DIY for Galaxy is less than 5 mins & £15.
Now if you want to discuss how long warranty periods should be...........?
Can't put it like that, not comparing like for like.
How much would it be to send your phone away to Samsung for a replacement battery?
You can (if you want) buy a new battery for an iPhone and fit it yourself, takes 5mins.
All of that is besides the point though, the battery in a device should last the duration of the devices warranty.

Overly defensive
My statement was simple, all parts of the device should be covered under the same warranty.
Of course longer warranties are better, doesn't change the point above though
It's not an Apple vs the world argument, it is a simple statement, the OP's battery (and everyone elses) should be covered for the duration.

Checked a few warranty rules regarding batteries and it seems Nexus 4, HTC One etc offer full battery cover for the warranty period, so it would appear that where a battery is not easily removed by the consumer the manufacturer will warrant the battery longer.
Moral - If you want extended battery warranty, buy a phone with non removable battery.....
Haha sorry nope, still not accepting it. Should be covered even if you can change it yourself.

I agree that batteries should last as long as the manufacturer's warranty but I also have never had a battery fail in over 30 years of owning a mobile phone. The demands on batteries though are so much more strenuous on the smartphone of today.
I cannot for the life of me work out why a manufacturer puts so many power hungry features on a phone but won't back it up with a decent battery that will last more than a day with minimal usage. I know they will throw size as an issue but with everything nowadays being made smaller and larger capacity, why not invest in battery structure?
