Samsung Galaxy 2 Issues with 2 different handsets

Hi

I got my first S2 end of September but about 4 days in, it started turning itself off at random, one night I left it fully charged and by half 6 the next morning I found it had gone off again and once i got it back on by removing the battery and putting it back in again, it was charged to 17%, so after having had it a week, I took it back to the shop and they gave me a new one.

Now, after a week of having the new one, it started doing the same thing again, turning off at random, but just now, I was having a conversation with my dad whilst using speakerphone and he said to me...'what's that beeping on the line'? so I went to wake the screen up to take it off speakerphone to see if the beeping would stop, but the screen wouldnt come on. It was as if it was off again, no buttons worked, no screen, nothing, but somehow, the connection was still on for me to be talking to him. I got him to hang up and tried to charge it, no go, had to take the battery out again for it to come back to life.

I tried updating firmware but it said there were no updates...any ideas before I go to the shop and do....well, I dont know what really, I gather I have 28days to get a new one and I got this 2nd one on the 5th, but Im not sure having a 3rd one would make any sense if they're all going to be faulty!

Some details:

Android Version: 4.0.3

Model GT-I9100P

*#1234# gets me this:

PDA: I9100PXXLPH

PHONE: I9100PXXLPC

CSC: 9100PO2ULP4

Build info: wed apr 11 12:22:51 kst 2012

Any advice / help much appreciated

Not sure why this got set to 'Solved' but you may want to unset it...

So what's that? About 8 days since it last failed? 😕

Maybe I need to find that thread LordShaper mentioned?

'The majority of my problems were solved by a factory reset and a clean of the cache after updating to 4.0.2. Maybe thats worth a try in your case.'

Not actually sure what 'clean of the cache' means?

If you boot to recovery mode (Hold Vol Up + Home + Power) you will get options to clear cache and then factory reset. This will wipe your settings from your phone so back up first so you can restore it afterwards. (Only you or a Mod can mark the thread as solved so if it wasn't you it must have been someone on the admin team).

OK was hoping not to have to, but seeing as it just happened again....the phone did feel warm...

before i do it, stupid question alert!

If it was a new phone....(twice), wouldnt it have started out on factory settings anyway? Won't I just be doing the same things over again? 😕

It depends on how the phone was prepared before you got it. It may not have been reset after the FW was flashed.....

Step 1 - Phone OFF (wait for little vibration).
Step 2 - Hold Vol Up (keep holding)
Step 3 - Hold Home (keep holding both now)
Step 4 - Hold Power (now keep holding all 3 keys)
When the Samsung splash screen appears on screen let go of the buttons and follow on screen instructions slight_smile
