S5 Lollipop update worries

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi there

Just over a month ago I received the Lollipop update for my Galaxy S5 via Kies (I am on o2 in the UK). G900FXXU1B0A3.  Like many people this is buggy, sluggish, has excessive battery drain and widget/app resets etc.  I tried a cache partition wipe and then a factory reset and these did nothing to help.

A couple of weeks ago my friend (also on o2 in the UK) received a further update OTA. G900FXXU1B0B7.  This version brought silent mode back and it seems faster/smoother overall.

Why would my friend have received this update weeks ago yet I have not? I am worried I am not receiving updates or that something is wrong with my phone.  Please help!!

Kind regards

Unless you have flashed non standard firmware or rooted your phone, there is no reason why you won't get updates.
They get rolled out by phone serial number so it's just a case of waiting for your turn.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I thought this may be the case, is the serial number on the sticker inside the battery compartment? Unless I'm reading the wrong one (SSN), My friend's is exactly the same as mine.

Ah thanks.

Well the good news is there is nothing wrong with my phone, the bad news is I have to wait patiently.

Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

Out of curiosity, what is currently being rolled out by o2? Is it the G900FXXU1B0B7 version my friend has currently?

Thanks again.
