Hey all.
As usual a complaint has brought a new member to the forum. I do apologise about that.
Being a bit of a tech nut I've weighed up the benefits of my 3rd HTC in a row, with it's consistently poor battery life but overall great experience against the plastic, but awesome UI of the S4.
I really liked the S2 so I decided I'd give it a go, it's got loads of great features I'd never use which sounds appealing to me.
I went in earlier this week to my local O2 and preordered the S4 and I was told I'd get it in store on Friday (today) and I just had to wait for a text. I called O2 yesterday to see if they had any news on the preorder as tomorrow is the only morning I could really take a couple of hours off as I'm busy working Saturday and Sunday.
They had no idea about the order and told me that the store runs like a franchise and they don't share information. What? I was assured by the store when I preordered that I'd recieve it today as they hadn't had many pre orders so I trusted that information.
I call up this morning and no, they don't have any phones and they 'SHOULD' get them tomorrow. This is one of the biggest tech launches in the calender year, how can they delay it by a day?
Did anyone else get this from their local store? I guess I should be happy that I'm going to get it tomorrow (if I can get away) as I read that many wont be getting there's for a week or so, but still, if you're guaranteed something and then they don't deliver it's annoying whatever the case is.
Solved! Go to Solution.

If everyone did that there wouldn't be a launch day. I was guaranteed a phone on Friday the 26th April 2013 so I took the morning off work, which isn't an easy thing to do.
I got my iPhone 4 on launch day. As I did with my HTC One X, and One X +.
While there's not much that I can do except **bleep** and moan, I won't accept poor customer service. I'll be putting a complaint in and I hope others do too. Whether Amazon have it or not is irrelevant to me, I was given a guarantee. It's pathetic.
Perhaps the more enlightened thing to do would be to not get annoyed because I'll get the phone soon, and it's not worth getting annoyed about, but on the other hand it fuels my desire to let them know that it's unacceptable, and hopefully they'll do better next time.
I'm not that pissed, I'm just miffed.

I just got a text telling me that they have no new information about my order.
When I called the shop today they just said come in and get one. So I think it's a big shambles.
Do you guys reckon there will be queues in general? I've preordered so if I don't get one over someone who hasn't I'm gonna be doubly miffed.
If I get there at 9 and there's a queue and I find out those in front haven't preordered I'm going straight to the front. I've paid £100 already, you know.

I wouldnt of thought there would be too many queues

My main gripe was the cut-off - I ordered last Saturday (20th), which was the earliest I could have pre-ordered after getting the GS2 on launch day. Just seemed a little coincidental that the cut-off was effectively preventing people with that handset (on contract) from getting the GS4.
I queued on launch for the iPhone 3GS, and was able to get the Galaxy S2 on launch day without any queuing, so to have a cut-off implemented late on, then next to no official communication over the changed launch date and stock levels is pretty unusual in terms with my prior experiences with O2.
The next query I've got is "when will I get my handset?". I preordered within 24 hours of the cut-off, so hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later. That being said, if I walk into an O2 store tomorrow and they have GS4s available, I will not be happy.

Samsung pushed the European release date back from the 26th to the 27th. This would be across all suppliers in Europe.
I believe they then allowed the release date of the 26th for preorders etc. but the stock would be limited. O2 (assuming they checked their stock against the pre-orders) used the 19th of April as a cut off so that anybody who ordered before this date should get it for the first planned release date, the 26th, and anyone after the 19th of April would get it on the Saturday.
The main courier for upgrades and new orders is UK Mail who we have gotten in to replace Yodel. So far, UK Mail have been greatly reliable and I rarely speak to customers who have had any issues with them - their website is good for tracking as well and updated frequently so if you are still awaiting the phone I would call CS or check your emails for a consignment number for UK Mail's tracking site.

Well I can't remember the date it was changed, but it was during the week as I remember reading about it in work and thought it wasn't very fair on everyone who was expecting it on the Friday - but yes, it was only the European launch date which was changed.
And I agree - Yodel were a nightmare. I much prefer UK Mail to them. I mainly deal with customers using DPD who are also pretty reliable.
