Phone blocked issue

a bit complex. I had a Samsung S5 with O2 pay monthly but the phone and SIM were with one of my colleagues. When the colleague left the company she told me, sorry the S5 was broken and she can't return it to me! Then I went to O2 to deactivate the SIM and got a new SIM for myself. Then what happened was amazing. She wrote to me later that her personal phone which was Samsung S4 was blocked, due to the SIM was blocked when she was using her S4 with the SIM card! And told me that O2 has confirmed to her that "when a sim is blocked the last phone which the SIM card had been used in also blocks the phone"! Is it true??? Many thanks!

Don't believe a word of it.
Probably had an s4 tucked away, then sold the S5 on eBay and reverted to using the S4.

^^^^^^^ My thoughts exactly. The S5 didn't belong to them but it 'was broken and couldn't return it?'

And the band played 'Believe it if you like'.... (as my dear old dad would say when he caught me out in a big fat lie)...:smileywink:

Thanks EVERYONE for your comments and replies. I have some updates for this. This colleague wrote me an email, with this statement:

"I spoke to 02 today and they have confirmed to me that you cancelled and blocked my phone as the SIM card used also blocked the phone as they explained that when a sim is blocked the last phone which the SIM card had been used in also blocks the phone, please can you call 02 and unblock my phone as this is causing me a problem. I have the receipt and proof of purchase if you require to see this."

Questions:

1) Technically is it true that if a SIM is blocked then the last phone with this SIM is blocked at the same time, by O2?

2) Do you personally believe this story or not?

Irrelevant anyway,
Tell her you will contact O2 to unblock any subsequent devices once the galaxy S5 (insert imei in brackets) is returned.
Until this time you have no idea if the S5 is broken, lost, stolen or being used by her.
I wouldn't believe a word, I would require proof.

I've already said it isn't true. Sim swapping will not bar a phone. If you reported the phone lost or stolen, that's the only way to get a phone barred and you would have to confirm the IMEI and model of the phone too.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I suspect the OP may never see this S5 returned. It sounds as if it has been sold on...or reported lost/stolen. Also for this colleague to email the OP and say HE has blocked her new phone...what a joke, Smiley Mad

The S5 belonged to him. He did the right thing. Let her sort herself out is my advice...

You want the phone back, broken or not.

I would mark subsequent emails as spam!
