Old texts mixed with new texts

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I've had a problem the last few months where sometimes when my girlfriend texts me, I'm getting her text mixed with an old text, causing utter confusion. 

It's very frustrating, is there a fix to it?

I've heard of this problem being caused by a faulty sim card. First step should be to pop into your local O2 store and get it changed.
