Your data will still work however charges will apply:

Use this to check.

I'd definitely turn data roaming off and just use Wifi where available.

With data roaming turned off you can still use the phone to call over the cellular network just be aware of the charges before you do. These can also be found from the link above.

Turn your data off and use Wifi when you can. Depending on what phone you have, you can download the Tu Go app and make calls over WiFi which will only come out of your UK allowance, rather than running up charges for international calls.

Definitely switch off mobile data and roaming or you will be hit with a shedload of charges. I am overseas and using wifi only combined with the TuGo app. Most hotels/motels have free wifi as well as large retailers such as McDonalds etc.

You might want to turn off voicemail too (before you go) as calls to that will be expensive.
