New Xperia XZ firmware

I'm not wetting my pants or losing sleep or anything, but there's new firmware for the Sony Xperia XZ, which contains the January Android security updates. The new version is 41.3.A.2.58. Virgin Mobile UK have got it so it's obviously been approved by Sony in the UK for at least the single-sim version (i.e. F8331).

Just a heads-up, as has been requested in the past.

I think I'll keep the Pampers on tonight, just in case.

It's the Jan 1st security patches by the way (source)

So, as Viridis has said, our Spectre and Meltdown patches will come with the Feb update.

Just thought I'd bump this thread to let everyone know that the February 1st Android security update for the XZ started rolling out in the UK (and a lot of other places) yesterday; so this includes the Spectre/Meltdown patch. I've successfully updated... nothing to report, which is as it should be. I used Xperia Companion as opposed to waiting for it to offer an over-the-air update.

The new build no. is: 41.3.A.2.75. The XZs and X Performance use the same software.

Well sometimes O2 don't bother updating firmware after a certain time for certain devices, so I thought a confirmation post might be helpful to some people.

One example is the Xperia XA - The latest patch Sony have released for it includes the November 2017 Android Security updates (33.3.A.1.115), but O2 UK haven't made it available yet - their latest build includes updates dated August 2017 (33.3.A.1.97). It can't be a regional problem either, because Vodafone UK have made the newer build available to their customers (Source: XperiFirm).

So it isn't always black and white, and I don't think there's a problem with confirming that things have actually been released.
