I'm not wetting my pants or losing sleep or anything, but there's new firmware for the Sony Xperia XZ, which contains the January Android security updates. The new version is 41.3.A.2.58. Virgin Mobile UK have got it so it's obviously been approved by Sony in the UK for at least the single-sim version (i.e. F8331).

Just a heads-up, as has been requested in the past.

Special firmware dated January 5th or later contains security fix for meltdown/spectre on Xperia.

If dated January 1st it's the normal Google security update and the aforementioned patch will come in February.

So, to sum up

Security fixes or more recent security fixes.

Oh and it will be released on O2 as soon as O2 release it to Sony and it's deployed, as with every other firmware.
