New Phone

I am about to buy a Samsung S4 but not from O2. Once I have bought it I want to keep my O2 account and my phone number. Can anyone give my step by step info. I'm getting on a bit (78) and although reasonably PC literate, I have no experience at all on android phones...

TIA for any help....

Fir the Samsung s4 you need a micro sim and any O2 shop keeps them in stock.

"I don't use gMail, and I don't expect to. I do have Samsung New PC Studio installed if that's any good...?"

One option is http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/

Or Bluetooth.

First off you are going to have to have a Gmail account if you want an android phone. Otherwise you won't be able to add any apps.
You need to use Kies to back up/restore/manage the S4. The old PC studio doesn't work but you might be able to export your old contacts from it and import them to Kies to transfer to the new phone.

When you get your new micro sim remember to ask for one for your account type as contract and PAYG are different.

I believe that's a typo and should read "new" sim.

You will need to register a gmail account to set up your new phone. That way it will also back up your contacts and any photos you use. It may be as well to set one up now and back up anything you want saving on the Tocco. Then you can simply sync your S4 with gmail.

I suppose you could just have an Amazon account and get your apps that way, but if you want the Play Store you need a google account
