Network unlock code doesn't work

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi, I recently got an upgrade and I gave my old phone to my mum (xperia z).
She is on Vodafone, so I requested a network unlock code, which didn't work. I requested another, thinking there may have been an error, and the second didn't work either. Both codes contained the required 16 digits (both different codes too).
I will call o2 on Monday. But I was wondering if there was a known issue with unlocking Sony phones? Thank you.

It's not dead, it just means it is forever locked to O2.
As O2 have provided you with an incorrect code which has caused this I would raise a complaint http://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

Please note you can only enter unlocking codes up to a maximum of 10 times before your phone becomes a brick.

It sounds to me like they are sending the wrong code.
Just out of interest, I assume you have tried the voda sim in it and it doesn't work?

With your o2 sim in can you do the following :

Go to phone dialler and enter

*#*#7378423#*#*

This will open up the service setting menu.

Then go to

Service info

Then

Sim lock

Can you write back here with what is listed in the brackets the name and the number of each item there paying close attention to the network one.

Hi, thanks for your replies. I've got an awful feeling that I've now locked it, if it's 5x. And there's nothing I can do about that?
I don't have an o2 sim that has service, as I switched to nano for my new phone and the old sim is now defunct. Does that matter?

Tried it with my old o2, and it's showing all zero's. Looks like I killed the phone. Such a shame. Thank you for your help guys.

Yep, if it shows:
(x) network lock. 0
It's hard locked now to O2

Unlocked is
() network lock. 0

Locked but unlockable is

(x) network lock. 1-5

Raise a complaint as MI5 said.
