Make sure you are connected to 3g or 4g and message will be shown on phone.
I'd be wary of following any links from text messages as you can never be sure they are genuine.

As said, the message won't be able to be seen on wifi. Be wary of data costs. Perhaps you can text the sender and ask them to email instead or to use many of the free WiFi m messaging apps?
