I'm looking to buy the 128GB version of the OnePlus 3T. I'd prefer to get it direct from OnePlus as I'm not an o2 customer but its been out of stock for quite awhile now and my old phone has broke so I need a replacement soon.
I've searched for and read a good few posts on this forum that say if you buy the phone from o2 as a pay as you go it comes unlocked so I decided to go get it from o2 but when I went instore and then on the helpline when I came home, I was told that the phone would be locked to o2 and I'd need to request it to be unlocked plus a £15 top up (guy instore).
I'm not sure if this is true but I find it hard to argue with someone who works there on a daily basis. Can anyone advise on this? Thanks.

They may well be telling customers that to put them off buying to use on a different network, but it's untrue.

Amazing the misinformation that comes from some O2 store staff when they are desperate for a sale/bonus.
