When I first got my Samsung S6, I carried my old number over to my new phone and were sent a new sim card, but in the "About Device" the number is different to my old number what I've had all the time? Someone said that the number on the sim I were sent were assigned to the SIM card and that my old number that i wanted to keep is not stored on the sim I recieved. Hence why the sim number is still stored and showing in "About Device" when I want my own number showing as its causing conflict with a Google Home?

Do i need a need sim card with my number assigned to it so my phone can recognise it?

Thanks..

@Baza

O2 don't push number changes to SIM cards like other networks do and it has never caused an issue until recently when smartphones now rely on the SIM card details for certain functions to work.

A way around it yourself is to put your SIM in an iPhone which will allow you to go to Settings >Phone >my number and change it manually. This will also store it on the SIM card. Alternatively, go in store and get a SIM swap  to a new blank SIM card which won't have your number on, but will also not have any conflicting details on it either.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

No charge. It's free with O2.
