How to copy phone book to pc from Samsung

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello, does anyone know how I can copy my phone book, memo book and possibly messages from my Samsung Galaxy Ace to my PC?  I am getting a new phone today and want to be sure I have copies of all the above.  I have not been able to bluetooth it, can I do it directly from a lead.  I have successfully put all my photos on to my pc but cannot find where the phone book etc are.

If anyone can help, please keep instructions simple, I am not a PC whizzkid!  Thank you.

Presuming you have a gmail account you should find the phonebook already backed up.

Just open gmail on your Pc and use the dropdown box on the gmail tab at the top left of the mail app and you should see your contacts.

Use an app such as SMS+Backup from goole play to back up your sms.

I did have Gmail but had to remove it from my phone as the memory on the Ace is far too small to accommodate anything that big.  I think I only had my email contacts anyway, not the whole phone book.

I know this will sound really stupid, but do I download SMS backup to my phone or PC?  If it goes on phone, will I then be able to copy it to my PC?

Your phone should be registered normally with a gmail address and would be set to automatically sync when you first set the phone up so check your gmail account on your PC.

You install SMS+backup to your phone which again backs up to your gmail account. Or you can use other apps.

As MI5 advised, Kies on your PC will back everything up simply via USB lead.

Hello, just to let you know I have managed to save my whole phone book to my PC via KIES.  Not yet been able to copy messages & memos but that's not so important.

Many thanks to you & MI5 for your help.
