I hope that's just all a speculative assumption....The opinion of one 'journalist', one who (unless he's a moron) either doesn't realise that by peddling that sort of doom and gloom he is pouring fuel on the fire, or one who is being fed back-handers by the competition to do just that (in which case he is a moron).
Personal preferences aside, the HTC One is one of, if not the best handset available today and that alone should - hopefully - be enough to see it succeed in the smartphone market. HTCs' problem is that the general buying public are a gullible lot, and unfortunately are easily swayed by scaremongering in the press.
Let's hope the quality of this phone is enough to shine through all the **bleep** and put HTC back in contention. After all - if there's no competition, then there's no choice
It isn't just the opinion of 'one journalist'. There is now an injunction in place. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2013/apr/23/nokia-wins-court-injunction-htc
Even though HTC say it won't affect their sales, where are they going to get what they need to build the phone if there is demand for it?

Not wanting to be a complete harbinger of doom and gloom about HTC, there is this:

But that's just one phone you have to think about all the models the other manufacturers offer I know htc do different ones but can they really keep up with the likes of apple and samsung I'm not so sure

Fair point damien, but Samsungs success can be put down to the GS2 and GS3: if you are producing what is generally considered to be the best, those that cannot afford the top-end product are far more likely to buy into the brand and go for the lesser products available from that manufacturer - ergo it stands to reason that if the HTC One is the best there is, their lower end products are more likely to sell to those who aspire to own it.
Time will tell no doubt, but I still believe that quality will always sell - especially when value for money is a major factor: sim free HTC One - £520, sim free SGS4 - £580

Yes I understand where your coming from as you say time will tell Phil I hope they pull through with the one being as good as it is I would love to see what the next top end model would be like

Me too mate - though I hope it's a while off yet, I can't afford more than one a year!

Likewise with the Iphone

Back to the subject matter - 1.29.401.12 is released for unbranded handsets in the UK: 220-odd MB update, downloaded (wi-fi, obviously) and installed in less than 7 minutes!
Too early to state what's improved other than the phone seems even faster
I'll update the thread when I've had a chance to test out the camera, which is meant to be the main improvement (not that it needed improving IMHO)
