HTC One S, Getting Hot & Battery Running Out Quick

As the above says, my HTC One S has just started to get hot when not in use, & i've noticed that the battery is now running out quick, full charge from about 10am today with no use al all today and at 3pm it's very hot even through the case and the battery has 14% left on it and running down quick

 

the phone is just over a year old

Back up your photos and anything else you need to keep and do a factory reset. It will at least rule out any apps if it still overheats afterwards.

It will be an app that is keeping the processor or modem awake constantly. Check in the battery usage section what is using the most battery and also remove any recently added or updated apps.

hi, thanks for the reply, this is the details from the usage

 

Android System = 60%

Android OS = 13%

Package Access = 6%

 

and so on

ok, this may sound daft, but how do you clear any updates?

 

is there a seeting to view to see what apps are connection to the net most?

In applications manager. Go into each app and select uninstall updates, but obviously only do this on the ones that have recently updated and coincide with the overheating. Alternatively delete all the apps you've added and start over.
