Blocked Handset

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all, looking for some advice.

I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy S6 from CEX (UK preowned electronics retailer)

CEX checked the handset prior to their purchase (stolen, outstanding finance, contract etc...), it was clear.

It worked fine for a week and then went to 'Emergency Calls Only'

I contacted O2 customer services and the handset is not listed in their system.

I have used the CheckMEND website to ascertain the handsets current status.

The report stated that the handset was 'Reported lost or stolen' and 'Blocked'.

How can I get the handset unblocked?

I suspect the previous owner has fraudulently claimed for a new handset, resulting in mine being blocked.

I have my receipt from CEX and the CheckMEND report available.

Any help appreciated.

Find out the insurance company and let them know as well take copies because they will need it. Insurance companies take this seriously because fraud could be in volved

All sorted out this afternoon.

Big thanks to the staff in CEX.

Not only did they give a full refund and offer a further 15% off any other phone if bought there and then, but...

They also rang the police - and gave them the details of the fraudster as this is the second time in 3 weeks they have done this!

Sent them an e-mail offering her 5 days to return the money (and get her phones back) or they would press the charges at the fullest level!

A new I-Phone last week, my Galaxy S6 3 weeks ago.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Outcome was as I expected and thanks for letting us know.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
