Billed for Data, but still have 100Mb allowance?

Can anyone explain why you still get billed for Data, when you still have all of your Data allowance left?

Thanks for the tip, had a quick look, but so far only found ability to force stop, uninstall updates or disable, or can move to sd card......but i will keep searching.

@Anonymous you don't have to turn things off in every individual app. Just go into your settings and turn off your data.

So then, am i right in my deliberations, that by setting my mobile data to off, all the apps will still update via wifi, whenever i am within range of one of any authorised networks, ie  mine, friends and families networks etc and only need to switch on again when no wifi available, but only when actually using a specific app when out of range of wifi networks. Please excuse my very basic understanding of these things...been a bit of a learning curve.

All apps will update over WiFi. All mine do. I only ever have mobile data turned on when out of WiFi range. (As I write this at home with Wifi) I have 4 apps currently updating @Anonymous

That's pretty much it @Anonymous. You would also need to turn your data on when out of WiFi range if you wanted to browse the web (or use this site), or if you wanted to send an email or anything that would need internet access. As your allowance is very small and wouldn't get you very far (hence the extra you've had to pay) you might want to consider increasing your monthly data allowance. If you don't use your data much, 500MB would probably cover you.

I think you need to increase your data to a minimum of 500. Also set your apps to only update over wifi. Your normal email and weather apps for instance will automatically update when mobile data is on so you need to switch it off when you are away from wifi or it will soon eat up 100 MB allowance.
