I am thinking of upgrading to a Sony Xperia E5. Can anybody please explain how to get the device to recognise an additional SD card installed, as part of the total storage. Thank you.

I'm not sure you can on an E5.
You can have an sd card to store music pics etc but not as combined storage.

Nope, Sony never allowed adoptive storage, one of the reasons being shown here.
Encrypted sd wouldnt transfer to different devices.
Other reasons being system speed, reliability and general user satisfaction not being guaranteed.

I have been playing around with it and have managed to move several apps from internal storage to my SD card, thus enabling me to download further apps. That may solve the problem for now. Thanks for all your comments.
