I'm looking at buying a phone for my sister who lives in Dublin.
Needing to know if her Southern Ireland sim card will work on a phone bought in the UK?
Please & thanks.

All new phones bought from O2 are unlocked so she can use any sim.

It depends on the phone.

Whilst most are factory unlocked or SIM free some are region locked (notably Samsung devices) so will need to be used on a local SIM first.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

To remove a Region Lock a culmitive call of 10 minutes needs to be made in the country of origin using a local sim card and the call made to a local telephone number.

After that, it will work anywhere.
