If you use an @o2.co.uk email address you were given previously as part of a broadband or mobile phone package, we’re sorry to tell you that this service is soon coming to an end.
Why?
While some people used these free email accounts, the vast majority didn't, and instead have been using popular other email services like Gmail or Outlook (Hotmail) instead. From 7th June 2016, all o2.co.uk email accounts will be closed and you’ll be unable to send or receive emails using your o2.co.uk account from this date.
What about all my emails, attachments and contacts?
We can show you how to transfer your contacts, email addresses and attachments to Gmail and Outlook. Just make sure you move them before your o2.co.uk email account closes on 7th June. Unfortunately, we can’t transfer them to Yahoo! Mail, so you’ll need to set up either a Gmail or Outlook account to move them.
Likewise, if you use your O2 email address as your log-in for any online services, like banking or shopping, you'll need to update those too. Some customers manage their O2 account from their o2.co.uk email address. If you do too, take a look at www.o2.co.uk/myo2 where you can see your balance, check your bill and get the low down on your account any time you like with My O2.
We’ll be in touch again before June 7th, just to remind you of what’s happening. Until then, we hope this won’t cause too much trouble.
Got any questions or concerns?
Please let us know below – we always welcome and appreciate feedback. If you need more help transferring your emails and contacts, feel free to speak to an O2 Guru - Just check out Live Chat here, or pop into one of our shops.
Remember you can find more info on everything mentioned above here on our website

Many customers actually stated they never had an email...

My o2 user name is my o2 email address so it will feel strange when o2 cuts me off (email) in June.
Sure was given the email in the early oo's (when joined o2 mobile) so will be strange to see it gone.
Guess it rids us of the speculation of it going one day. (though I felt it was party to o2 mobile)

QUESTION
Can you change email setting in Private Statistics (o2 community) as shows o2 email.
Can't see an obvious way
Thanks

Hi @Anonymous Once you have set up a new email address you can change the one in My O2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2
In My Details (right hand side of page) click on email address and then change it....
If you just want a new email address to change from webmail you have to do this yourself. I use gmail personally

Hi Cleoriff
That was confusing!!! (didn't realise valid email tie-in)
(Had looked before but made no sense.............)
Lightbulb moment: Changed MY o2 user name from original o2 email to the email address that I get o2 bill notifications. (could never see that email in my o2!) WEIRD
O2 community now shows revised email as u suggested - thanks
Thanks had changed 99.87% emails over after the log-in probs.

So after O2 denying last year that they still operated the webmail and accussed Sky of the drop in service for days, they have finally accepted they still run it and have decided to close it for good!. Oh Joy more inconvience!
Am I sad and angry, probably yes, but am I surprised... nothing surprises me from O2 anymore!
It's a shame that they don't value their customers more that still do use the service but its not about the customer with O2. I walked out of one of their shops recently as the staff just blanked me and carried on a conversation amoungst themselves laughing and joking!
I would really like it clarified though when the mail service gets cut off, as Chris_K from O2 says above its the 3rd May yet my e-mail from O2 says its 7th June!!!! Just another example of O2 unable to communicate with its customers and themselves!!!
