Excited for the new Samsung Galaxy? :)

Hi guys,

Rumour has it that Samsung will be releasing the next Galaxy soon... Are you looking forward to this one?  

News and tech sites are already speculating about what its features could be. Until we know about it in more detail from the Samsung Unpacked event, which takes place on 20th February, see below some of the impressive rumours we've seen so far about the Samsung Galaxy S10 range!

Three versions and an in-screen fingerprint scanner

My husband plays bowls and is a team captain. Many of the team (elderly) don't have mobiles and prefer to ring landlines.

(Which is a bit annoying as our landline is next to me... so often I am acting as his blumming secretary.

Yes, @Cleoriff having a landline when the network is down is useful, no question. And I also understand the thing about hospital calls and it being cheaper to ring a landline than a mobile.

But maybe I'm being a bit thick here but being an 'elderly' person, what's the difference ringing a mobile to ringing a landline? I can sort of understand not wanting to use a mobile, not everyone in their 70s or 80s is comfortable with technology but don't get the problem with ringing a mobile.

Also, with few phone boxes around now, a mobile is very handy in an emergency when a landline isn't an option.

Actually, most calls to my landline are cold-callers, even though I have been registered with the TPS for many years.

No couldn't  change phone number as then my landline was with BT (breach nothing to do with them) and my main contact for everyone and everything @Glory1 

Broadband was with TalkTalk (no landline with them)

I didn't use a mobile much at all, just a Clam Style Orange pay as you go and very expensive to use.

Heck that seems such a long time ago and a big journey for me.

Now with Landline/Broadband combined it is cheaper.

Made steady changes and have to say out of that very bad experience has come a very much better communication system for me.  

@Cleoriffis right too, landline useful if mobile connections go down.

However, my husband gave his mobile and landline number to the team members. They prefer to call the landline as it works out cheaper for them...(particularly those who only have landlines)

Okay I get it. Now the question, just putting it out there, is why does it cost more to ring a mobile. Particularly as most people have one. Surely connecting to a mobile number is no more difficult than connecting to a landline in this day and age. Sorry but I'm really curious why it costs more to ring a mobile than a landline.

Yes I have no problem remembering old numbers. I can remember the landline number at my old address, hell, I can even remember my mom's number and she has been dead 20 years. Mobile numbers too, I can remember my dear wife's mobile number from seven years ago! Learning new numbers that I never call proves impossible though....

No idea why the difference in charges @Glory1 Obviously if both parties have a mobile with unlimited minutes that's a different ball game

However, if you only have a landline it does tend to cost more to ring a mobile as opposed to another landline.
