Hey Guys,

Just to confirm that we’re contacting our customers who currently have 4G ready phones as we're giving them access to 4G for nothing!

All the details on this are here http://go.o2.co.uk/got4G

Only those who currently have a 4G phone but are on 3G plans can take advantage of this offer.

The messages you may receive about this will vary depending on whether you’re currently in an area that supports 4G or not. We’ll grant all customers who own a 4G ready phone access to this offer so you’re good and ready when 4G comes to your town.

We want as many people enjoying 4G as we can, at the moment our 4G could cover 17 million people in the UK!

This is part of our 2014 4G master plan, if you have any questions or thoughts- Let us know!

If you are one of the 600,000 customers who will enjoy free 4G, please do share some speed tests with the community too!

Toby - Is there going to be an increase in the data allowance like some of the other offers have had? (eg 1Gb increases to 5Gb) Or is it just the 4g for free?

Hi stringbean,

The answer is no, your data allowance will not increase, but you'll be able to add bolt-ons if you need them.

Haha, I just got the text!! Lol, I havent even got 2g in my area and pretty appalling coverage across Norfolk per se unless you live in Norwich. Why roll this out when the basic service is very very poor?

On the flip side you may also have been upset at not getting the text !

By 2015 the service will have improved.

I have been advised that not all the areas due to upgrade will be done by the end of 2015. (Senior management at o2). In my local area in a town with 50000 populus the upgrade is due 2016 so how many other areas won't be done by 2015 I ask?

As for 2g well that's all I get at home and a weak 2g at that. You are not missing much my friend.
