I have an Iphone X, and occasionally enter competitions using premium rate, 5 digit numbers, costing approximately £2 per text.
I used to be able to do this with no problem using my previous iphone, but unable to do so using this phone.
My O2 contract is Pay as You Go, and I top up when nearing my balance.
I thought there must be a cap on texting premium rate numbers, and phoned o2 to check. They said, after checking with a manager, that there is no cap on my account, and the problem is within the iphone settings.
Unfortunately, she couln't tell me which settings, and I wondered whether anyone on the forum could inform me which these could be.
Grateful for any help.

IOS doesn't have any notion of Premium SMS, so the agent is talking rubbish.
If you login to myo2, you can see if there ais any cap applied. You will need to ask o2 if there is any premium rate bars on your account.
If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this

Thank you for replying so swiftly.
I agree with your comments that it is unlikely that the problem lies within my iphone settings.
Could you advise where in 'My o2' I could check whether there is a bar on my account.
Unable to post on social media for help as I don't use them and am not registered.
I feel that if I contact o2 again, I will get a similar unhelpful response.
Thank you

There are no such bars available on PAYG as it is credit driven.
You say you top up when nearing your balance?
What do you mean exactly?
Are you on a bundle tariff (which will need extra credit) or the older traditional PAYG?

Thank you for replying.
I think that I am on the old traditional PAYG. I don't use my phone often, but usually top up when my credit balance is down to about £5. My recent top up of £20 earned me a £2 reward.
I am definitely well within credit to make these calls, and never had a problem with my previous iphone.
