We received my son's new watch yesterday, gave it a good charge and set it up. He had a few hours wearing it this evening. Several phone calls, nothing much else and it states he's used 456 MBs of his 1 GB data already. There's 8 days left until data renews. Is this a thing with a new SIM to get a lower amount? Seems rather excessive amount of data gone if that's not the case.

The first month is always pro-rated so the amount will be lower.  It would normally use 200mb per month without any updates or video calls

However it could be the watch has done some updates, using mobile data or see this from Spacetalk https://www.spacetalkwatch.co.uk/pages/support-adventurer
