Ok, so transferred to O2 (beginning to wonder why...) - got a temp sim, and waited nearly a week for my old number to be ported over.  Advised today that it now had been - no other information on what to do to ensure that the temp number on the sim was changed.  After 3 hours got the useless support centre who told me to switch it off and back on again (why could their emails have told me that?).  Did, but accidentally inputted the wrong PIN for the SIM and now need a PUK code.  Logged into MyO2, went to look it up, but " no details".  Tried their website to get the PUK for my number - "Opps something went wrong try again later".  So, no phone, no way of unlocking and DEFINATELY no way to talk to O2!!  Any Tech Support people actually read these?

@smenmarch

The Automated call line also works for PUK.

Call 202 from any O2 mobile (or 0344 809 0202 standard UK rate from any other phone)

and say or key in your own phone number when prompted.

when it comes to the reason you are calling stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.

Press 2 for Everything Else

Press 5 for More Options

Press 3 Your PUK will be read to you, so have a pen and paper handy.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I guess you missed the bit where I said I had no phone..... and this means no landline either.

I find it extremely ironic that in this day and age where everyone wants you to do all online, I had to end up going into town to an O2 shop to get this sorted.  The staff managed to get to speak to someone, who after asking to speak to me, said she would send me a text with a security code!  I guess no one listens - if the phone is locked how am I going to get the text...  I was fizzing by this time and then she said she would send an email - excuse me - phone locked and I am in one of your shops you stupid women! But then the staff said they could get into phone for email (really?) which they did and I was able to give her the code so that they could then obtain the PUK. A WHOLE DAY wasted!  Why can the stupid website advise you that you cannot use their chat to get actual (expert apparently) help at the beginning, instead of having to go through the limited options available for at least 5 mins, only to be told only availabe in the app (which I detest).  As for customer service, well, it cleary does not exist online.

What I missed was the bit where you had no friends who you could borrow a phone from.

In your situation, it is not sensible to rely solely on one device to connect to absolutely everything.

1. My phone is important to me

2. I have no back up or contingency plans

How many times do we hear this

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

With most modern smartphones being dual-SIM, a cheap PAYG SIM on a different network is surely a must for resilience :-

@smenmarch You can download Skype Guide: A Guide to Skype and call O2 free on 0800 032 1402 or you can buy a small amount of credit if you need to call the 0344 number.
