I became an O2 customer yesterday having just purchased a new contact with O2 and an iphone 11. I was told to leave my new phone off all day until 6pm which I did and although I've now got everything working and my old Samsung phone on Vodafone is now saying Emergency Calls only, I am not receiving everyone's text messages.  It's only some people's texts that I can't receive eg. I can message my mum but when she replies it never arrives.  Earlier today her texts and one or two others were still going to my old Samsung phone, but after trying lots of things and playing with settings, we managed for her to get one text through to me and I replied, but now they're not coming through again.  She is not blocked and it's not just her.  One or two of my friends also can't get text messages through to me.  Has anyone else had issues with just some numbers not being able to text after a port to O2?

Text messaging is the last service to be provisione on the account.

Rebooting the phone hourly sometimes helps but try going into network settings and manually forcing to Vodafone.

Reset back to O2 after then reboot the phone

I think the text messages that aren't getting through to my new iPhone 11 on O2 are ones sent as rcs (Rich communication messages). Do I have to wait until O2 re-open to get them to activate rcs for me or is there a setting I can change to allow them to get through to me?

@Footyboy

RCS is currently only supported on Android.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks for answering me but I've still got the problem and it's been nearly 2 weeks now.  You say that RCS is only supported on Android and my mum who cannot get her text messages through to me does have an android, but she can send texts to my sister who also has exactly the same phone as me, an iphone11, so the only difference is that I am on O2 and my sister is on Vodafone.  My mum's brother is with O2 and my mum's texts get through to him, but he is on an android.  I still can't speak to anyone at O2 about it so not sure if there is a solution to this or not, however, I am convinced that It must be that O2 blocks RCS text messages to iphone 11 and other networks do not.  Has anyone else every experienced this before?

Yes you are correct.
Voda has been supporting RCS for a long time across all phones and use a slightly different system.
O2 is just using the native Android setup.
