I have been charged £10 extra on my bill for text messages that have been sent to me from 88222. I have not contacted this number and have not subscribed to anything, so why am I being charged for text messages I didn't ask for?

Update re: your link to unsubscribe from the origin of the texts.

I rang the number you gave me but they don't accept voice calls anymore, so I emailed them at the address they gave. Had a quick reply that informed me they had checked and found that my number was not in their database and they hadn't sent any texts to me. They didn't know any other companies who would have either. So I'm back to square one again.

I spoke to 02 again and was assured that as my spend cap was now set to zero, I would not receive any more of these texts. Time will tell when I get next months bill. Thanks for your help.
